Key Facts on UTIs

  • UTI gauges are mainly used to measure the oil level or oil-water interface on tanker vessels.
  • UTIs are composed of the detecting head and the display device.
  • Depending on the tank’s depth and the manufacturer of the detector, their tape length can vary between 15m to 40m long.
  • Usually their thermometer sensors read temperatures between 10℃ - 90℃.
  • To make sure that they remain correct in measurements UTIs have to be calibrated once a year by specialised technicians.
